Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a student to live at Scape?

Yes, Scape’s student accommodation is purpose built for students and a confirmation of enrolment is required to secure your room.

Do I need to have my enrolment confirmed to book my room?

No, you can still book your accommodation while waiting for confirmation or acceptance/enrolment at RMIT, or if you are still waiting for the issue of an Australian student visa by the Australian Government. Please see our Booking Terms & Conditions for more information on the steps to follow if you are not accepted and need to cancel your booking.

How do I travel from Scape to RMIT University?

RMIT is one of the most centrally located universities in Melbourne and is easy walking distance from all Scape buildings. Scape Swanston, Scape Aurora and Scape Franklin all surround RMIT A’Beckett Urban Square and are basically like living on campus.

Scape Victoria Street, Scape La Trobe and Scape Melbourne Central are a short 3-minute walk away. Scape Queensberry and Scape Carlton are an 8-minute walk down Swanson Street, and our most northern building, Scape Peel, is a 17-minute walk, a 7-minute bike ride or a short tram ride down Elizabeth Street.

What’s included in my rent?

All your utilities including electricity, water and heating, plus unlimited broadband internet are included with your rent. There are no additional bills to worry about. You’ll enjoy access to our amazing common spaces and at Scape Victoria Street you’ll also enjoy access to our onsite Scape Eats eatery (three meals a day included). Plus, a packed calendar bursting with exclusive events, mentorship programs, and internship opportunities where you can experience other cultures and make friends at the same time.
